Antinuclear Antibodies (ANA)

Detects autoimmune activity.

What it tests: An immune marker that screens for autoimmune activity.

Why it is important: A positive result is a prompt to look upstream at gut barrier function, infections, environmental exposures, and chronic stress, all of which influence immune tolerance. Many healthy people have low-titer positive ANAs without ever developing autoimmune disease.
